Fraud Warning - Scam Calls and Messages
Recolution Group and its companies (Meritus Talent Ltd, Conexus DX Ltd, Yolk Recruitment Ltd, Conexus DX Ltd) takes reporting fraud very seriously.
Unfortunately, there are scammers in every industry and in the recruitment sector they are likely to advertise fake jobs or pose as a recruitment agent to obtain your personal information.
These scams normally include phishing for information, and we are aware that scammers are unlawfully using our brand names and logo in an attempt to obtain individuals data.
Are you a victim of employment fraud?
- If you’ve been contacted by someone claiming to be an employer’s agent offering you a new job, firstly verify they work at the company. You can do this by contacting the agency directly.
- Do not fill out a questionnaire or give them personal or financial information about yourself until you have verified their position.
- Do not part with any money, in no circumstances should you ever need to pay an agency for their candidate’s services.
- Do not click unsolicited emails or attachments.
- Remember, if it is too good to be true, it probably is.
If you suspect you have been actively targeted by a fraudster.
- Stop all communication but make a note of their details and report it to us immediately, it is also recommended to report this to Action Fraud
https://reporting.actionfraud.police.uk/login
- If you’ve given them any money, contact your bank immediately.
- Warn the operators of the website where you placed your CV that their site is being used by fraudsters.
Protect yourself against employment fraud
- Check any documents or communications for poor spelling and grammar – this is often a sign that fraudsters are at work.
- Ask the embassy representing the country where you believe you will be working how to obtain a visa and how much it costs. Check that the answers the potential employer gave you are the same – if they’re not, it may be a sign of fraud.
- Check the official records to confirm that the organisation offering you the job actually exists. If it does, contact the organisation directly through officially listed contact details to confirm the job offer is genuine.
- Tell the employer that you will make your own travel and accommodation arrangements. Beware if they try hard to dissuade you or tell you that you have to use the agency they refer you to.
- Beware, too, if the employer or agent provides a webmail email address such as @Yahoo or @Hotmail as a point of contact.
- For further help see the recruitment industry counter fraud forum website, which provides specific advice.
